La Trobe University: English test requirements
La Trobe states each course requirement as an IELTS level on the course page and publishes one table of equivalent TOEFL, PTE and Cambridge scores. Most courses ask for IELTS 6.0 or 6.5; nursing, allied health, social work, teaching and speech pathology ask for 7.0 to 7.5, and some of these accept only named tests. Graduate research degrees all need IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0.

Each La Trobe course page (international view) prints the IELTS level it needs and, for some courses, which tests are the only ones accepted; most pages then point to the English language requirements page, whose table gives the TOEFL, PTE and Cambridge scores treated as equal to each IELTS level. These bands are the distinct requirements found on 19 course pages read in a browser on 1 Nov 2026 (band names are ours and describe the scores), plus the remaining levels of the university table, which no course read used. Evidence must be no older than two years unless stated, and only the most recent single result is considered.
