Undergraduate applicants have a general set of scores and a higher set for Nursing, consecutive Education and the Juris Doctor. Graduate English requirements are held in a calendar that could not be read, so they are not given.

Other routes include one year of university study in English in an English-official country, three years at an English-medium high school, Lakehead's Academic English Program and approved pathway partners. Nursing and consecutive Education applicants must complete a recognised test, Academic English Program Level 6 or three years in an English medium; Juris Doctor applicants a recognised test or three years in an English medium. Lakehead's TOEFL code is 0888.
