Abertay University: English test requirements
Abertay asks for IELTS 6.0 with no component below 5.5 (or an accepted equivalent) for most undergraduate and taught postgraduate courses, and names the courses that need more, such as Mental Health Nursing, Counselling and Sports Therapy. Research degrees ask for IELTS Academic 7.0 with no component below 6.5. PTE must be taken in person.

One standard set of scores for most undergraduate courses. Named exceptions: BSc (Hons) Food, Nutrition and Health and BSc (Hons) Fitness, Nutrition and Health need IELTS 6.5 with no component below 6.0; BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing needs IELTS 7.0 (the IELTS entry says no component below 7.0). For courses needing IELTS 6.5 or equivalent, the page gives higher Duolingo, Oxford ELLT and Oxford Test of English scores. Tests are valid for two years.

Postgraduate taught
The same standard scores apply to most taught postgraduate courses. Named exceptions: MSc Counselling needs IELTS 7.0 (no component below 6.5 on the IELTS entry); MSc Cyber Law and Ethics and MSc Sports Therapy need 7.0 with no component below 6.5; the Global MBA needs 6.5 with no component below 6.0; the DBA with Westford University College needs 7.0. The ESCT partnership route for MSc Construction Management accepts only the Password English test (6.0 with no subscore below 5.5) for entry from September 2027.
