London Metropolitan University: English test requirements

London Met sorts its courses into requirement types: undergraduate courses are Standard, Higher, Exceptions or Nursing, and postgraduate taught courses are Standard, Higher, Advanced or Exceptions. Each course page says which type applies, and research degrees have one set of scores. PTE must be taken in person, as the online version is no longer accepted.

Checked on 2 Nov 2026 against the university's own pages. Universities change their requirements, and some courses ask for more. Always confirm on the university's page before you book a test or apply.

Undergraduate

Each undergraduate course page states whether the course uses the Standard, Higher, Exceptions or Nursing requirements. Standard covers most bachelor's degrees and degrees with a foundation year. IELTS Indicator, IELTS online and IELTS One Skill Retake are accepted. Most tests are valid for two years and must still be valid on the first day of enrolment. Applicants of majority English speaking nationality who do not need a SELT are still asked for a UK GCSE English language equivalent.
