Solent University: English test requirements
Solent's general benchmark for bachelor's study is IELTS Academic 6.0 with 5.5 in each component. Master's requirements vary by course (from IELTS 6.0 upwards), so the course page is the authority; Nursing needs IELTS 7.0.

The 2025/26 entry statement accepts English from most Indian state boards but excludes Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat and Punjab. CBSE English must be Core Module 301. The page says: “The University will accept the English from the majority of Indian state boards”

The 2026 course page, the India country page and the 2025/26 entry statement agree on IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in each component for bachelor's degrees; some courses differ (the statement names NMC Nursing at IELTS 7.0). Tests are normally valid for two years. Courses below degree level need a SELT.

Master's requirements are set course by course. The MSc Software Engineering 2026 page asks for IELTS 6.0 with 5.5 in each component, while the India page gives the general master's figure as IELTS 6.5 with 6.0 in Writing and 5.5 elsewhere (TOEFL 92, Duolingo 115 with 100 in each). The 2025/26 statement gives Cambridge 176 with no component below 169 for most master's programmes.
