University of Dundee: English test requirements

Dundee publishes no university-wide score table or course groups: each course's entry requirements page gives its own IELTS Academic minimum with a score per skill, followed by equivalent scores in LanguageCert, PTE Academic UKVI, TOEFL iBT and Trinity ISE. The central guide lists the accepted tests, and Duolingo is not among them.

Checked on 31 Oct 2026 against the university's own pages. Universities change their requirements, and some courses ask for more. Always confirm on the university's page before you book a test or apply.

Applicants from India

The central guide accepts Standard XII English from the CBSE or CISCE boards at 70% as a high school English qualification for some courses; the offer letter confirms whether it applies, and it may not be accepted for Dentistry, Health Sciences, Medicine or Social Work. The page says: “India Standard XII (CBSE or CISCE Only) 70%”

Applicants from Nigeria

The central guide accepts NECO or WASSCE English Language at A1 to C6 as a high school English qualification for some courses, with the same limits for Dentistry, Health Sciences, Medicine and Social Work. The page says: “Nigeria West African Senior School Certificate (WASSCE) in English Language A1 – C6”

Applicants from Pakistan

The Pakistan page points to the course pages and the central guide and gives no local English qualification as an alternative to a test; the guide's high school list has no Pakistani qualification. The page says: “For all our courses you will also need to meet our English language requirements.”
