Binghamton, New York, US

Binghamton University, State University of New York: English test requirements

Binghamton publishes middle 50% English scores for international first-year applicants rather than hard minimums, and one set of central graduate minimums that some departments raise. SAT and ACT are optional for first-year applicants, but every non-native English speaker must still send an English test score.

Checked on 2 Nov 2026 against the university's own pages. Universities change their requirements, and some courses ask for more. Always confirm on the university's page before you book a test or apply.

The table gives the middle 50% of scores, not a minimum, and no section scores. Scores must be under two years old and sent officially by the testing organisation. Students who have attended a school taught in English for four years may ask for a waiver. The test policy page says students admitted at a level equivalent to IELTS 5.5 to 6.0 may have to attend the on-campus English Language Institute before the semester.
