Texas A&M University: English test requirements
Texas A&M publishes one set of English minimums for international undergraduates and one for graduate applicants, with no course bands, though graduate departments may set higher standards. Freshman SAT/ACT is optional now, but the university intends to require it again from Spring/Fall 2028 if its governing board approves.

Undergraduate
One set of minimums for all international freshmen. TOEFL test dates must fall within two years and MyBest TOEFL scores are not accepted. The page also treats the SAT and ACT English scores below as proof, and exempts citizens of listed English-speaking countries and students who completed all four years of high school in the United States.

Graduate
University-wide minimums apply, but the page says some academic units set standards above them, so check the programme. Test dates must fall within two years and MyBest TOEFL scores and the IELTS One Skill Retake are not accepted. A GRE verbal or GMAT verbal score can also meet the requirement, subject to departmental approval.

Optional
SAT and ACT scores are not required for the current cycles, and applicants for Spring and Fall 2027 are not affected. The university says it intends to require SAT or ACT scores again for Spring and Fall 2028 applicants, but that is a proposal awaiting approval by its governing board, with final requirements to be announced by the end of June 2027. Scores expire after five years.

Required
The application asks for a GRE or GMAT score or an exam waiver. Waivers are not guaranteed and are considered for applicants with a strong undergraduate GPA and at least three years of professional experience after their bachelor's degree.
