University of New Brunswick: English test requirements
International undergraduate applicants have a general set of scores and a higher set for Nursing, Education and Arts (Fredericton) and Nursing and Health Sciences (Saint John). The graduate school sets no scores on its general page, so graduate figures are not given.
Checked on 31 Oct 2026 against the university's own pages. Universities change their requirements, and some courses ask for more. Always confirm on the university's page before you book a test or apply.
Applicants from India
An exemption from an English test is offered to applicants with Indian CBSE or CISCE year 12 English at 75 per cent or higher. The page says: “India CBSE & CISCE year 12 English with minimum grade of 75%”
Applicants from Nigeria
Nigeria is on the list of countries where one year at an English-speaking high school (four for Nursing and Health Science) can exempt an applicant from a test. Pakistan is not on that list. The page says: “applying from one of the following countries”

Graduate
The School of Graduate Studies page only says official English-language test scores are required if English is not the first language, and that each programme lists its own requirements. No scores are set at school level.
The scores for this level are set course by course. The tests below are the ones the university lists; check the exact scores on your course page.

Other tests the university lists
- Successful completion of an approved UNB English language training programme such as PAEP, Saint John College EAP or ESLS
“Not on the list” means the test does not appear on the university page we checked. It does not mean the test is refused: the course page or the admissions office may still accept it, so ask them.
