University of Saskatchewan: English test requirements

Undergraduate and graduate each have one university-wide set of minimums (Nursing sets higher undergraduate scores on its own page, and graduate programmes may require more). The university may only ask for proof of English, and a good range of schooling or study routes can replace a test.

Checked on 31 Oct 2026 against the university's own pages. Universities change their requirements, and some courses ask for more. Always confirm on the university's page before you book a test or apply.

Applicants from India

For undergraduate schooling routes, the acceptable curricula list includes India IGCSE and CBSE only. Pakistan and Nigeria are not named on the page. The page says: “India - IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) and CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) only”

Previous English-medium study is accepted at the discretion of the academic unit, which may still require a test. TOEFL institution code 0980; Institutional TOEFL (ITP) is not accepted.

Graduate admission requirements (English language proficiency)

Other tests the university lists

  • Oxford ELLT (printed on the page as Oxford EELT), overall 7 with no score below 6 in each area (graduate, applicants from Iran only)
  • University of Saskatchewan Language Centre, English for Academic Purposes Level 4 (completed; the centre is now closed)
  • University of Regina English for Academic Purposes (EAP 100 and EAP 101)

The page says these are not accepted

  • Institutional TOEFL (ITP) (graduate)

“Not on the list” means the test does not appear on the university page we checked. It does not mean the test is refused: the course page or the admissions office may still accept it, so ask them.
