Baruch College, City University of New York: English test requirements
Baruch applies CUNY's undergraduate English minimum of TOEFL 80 or IELTS 6.5, with a waiver for applicants from English-speaking countries or with a strong SAT reading and writing score. Graduate requirements are set by each school: the Marxe School names its accepted tests without minimums, and the Zicklin School of Business pages could not be read today.
Checked on 2 Nov 2026 against the university's own pages. Universities change their requirements, and some courses ask for more. Always confirm on the university's page before you book a test or apply.

The same minimum applies to first-year and transfer applicants. Applicants from an English-speaking country, or with 480 or higher on the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section, are exempt. Scores go to CUNY (code 2950), not to Baruch. The how to apply page lists TOEFL, IELTS or PTE for students needing an F-1 or J-1 visa and says Duolingo is currently accepted as an alternative, but gives no minimums for PTE or Duolingo.

Admissions tests
SAT / ACT · First-year applicants, fall 2023 through spring 2027
Optional
CUNY's test-optional policy runs through spring 2027 admission; applicants choose whether to send SAT or ACT scores, and their absence cannot be used to deny admission.
“The absence of SAT or ACT exam scores cannot be used to deny a student admission.”
Other tests the university lists
- SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing 480 or higher (undergraduate TOEFL waiver)
- Paper-based TOEFL 550 (undergraduate, stated as equivalent)
“Not on the list” means the test does not appear on the university page we checked. It does not mean the test is refused: the course page or the admissions office may still accept it, so ask them.
