Georgetown University: English test requirements

Georgetown recommends but does not require an English test for undergraduates from non-English-language schools and prints no scores. For graduate study the Graduate School requires TOEFL or IELTS scores, with the figure depending on the programme.

Checked on 31 Oct 2026 against the university's own pages. Universities change their requirements, and some courses ask for more. Always confirm on the university's page before you book a test or apply.

An English test is recommended, not required, for students whose school does not teach in English. The page prints no minimum scores. It lists the paper, internet-based and IPT Plus versions of the TOEFL (spelled that way on the page). The page also says that in exceptional cases applicants who cannot reach an SAT or ACT centre may apply without those scores.

“Not on the list” means the test does not appear on the university page we checked. It does not mean the test is refused: the course page or the admissions office may still accept it, so ask them.
