Queen Mary University of London: English test requirements
Queen Mary uses English bands 1 to 5, but the band depends on the academic department running the course, not on the course itself, so one table lists each department and its band. Most undergraduate courses are Band 3, 4 or 5 and most postgraduate taught courses Band 4; Law and a few programmes have their own non-standard requirements. Duolingo is accepted for tests taken since 1 July 2024.
Checked on 31 Oct 2026 against the university's own pages. Universities change their requirements, and some courses ask for more. Always confirm on the university's page before you book a test or apply.

The band follows the department, listed on the bands page; joint degrees follow the home department. Scores for each band are on the accepted tests page (band 3, 4 and 5 shown). Tests are valid for two years from the course start. Examples below are the departments named on the page, not individual degrees. Bands 1 and 2 apply to foundation and pathway courses and are not shown.
