University of Liverpool: English test requirements

Liverpool sets English requirements course by course. Its general pages give only typical IELTS tiers and the list of other accepted tests; the exact score for TOEFL, PTE and Duolingo is on each course page. TOEFL Home Edition is not accepted. Duolingo is accepted for undergraduate and master's courses.

Checked on 31 Oct 2026 against the university's own pages. Universities change their requirements, and some courses ask for more. Always confirm on the university's page before you book a test or apply.

Applicants from India

Indian Standard XII English can be used instead of a test only from certain boards; several state boards and the National Institute of Open Schooling are excluded, and the percentage depends on the board. The page says: “The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and State Boards of Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand are not accepted.”
