York has no named profiles. Each course sets its own IELTS requirement and the university publishes an equivalence table, one block per IELTS level, showing the matching TOEFL, PTE and Duolingo scores. There are five undergraduate and thirteen postgraduate taught tiers; the course page says which IELTS level applies.
Checked on 31 Oct 2026 against the university's own pages. Universities change their requirements, and some courses ask for more. Always confirm on the university's page before you book a test or apply.

Undergraduate
The table shows typical scores; each undergraduate course has its own requirement. Scores must come from one test, except IELTS One Skill Retake and Oxford ELLT Skill Retake. Results must be dated no more than two years before the course starts. PTE Academic Online is excluded and TOEFL MyBest is not acceptable. Hull York Medical School has its own entry requirements page.
