American University: English test requirements
Only the Kogod School of Business Full-Time MBA requirements could be read for American University; graduate English requirements are set by each school. The main undergraduate and graduate admission pages were blocked (HTTP 403), so no undergraduate or general graduate figures are recorded.
Checked on 2 Nov 2026 against the university's own pages. Universities change their requirements, and some courses ask for more. Always confirm on the university's page before you book a test or apply.

Full-Time MBA (Kogod School of Business)
A test is required of everyone who completed a bachelor's (and any master's) degree outside the US. Scores must be under two years old and sent officially by the testing agency. A degree completed in one of the listed approved waiver countries gives an automatic waiver; English-taught study elsewhere and English certificate programmes do not. The school may run its own further checks of English.

Admissions tests
GMAT / GRE · Full-Time MBA
Optional
GMAT or GRE scores are encouraged and may help with funding, but applicants who do not send one must write a separate waiver essay on their readiness for quantitative study.
“Not on the list” means the test does not appear on the university page we checked. It does not mean the test is refused: the course page or the admissions office may still accept it, so ask them.
