Stevens Institute of Technology: English test requirements
Stevens sets one English minimum for undergraduates and puts graduate applicants into three levels that decide whether English communication courses are needed in the first term.

First-year international applicants whose first language is not English need one of the listed tests. The PTE appears only in the transfer section of the page (minimum 53). Waivers are case by case for students with three years of US study.

The page sets an entry minimum of TOEFL iBT 4 (no scale label printed), IELTS 6 or Duolingo 110, then three levels. Level 1 needs no English Language Communication (ELC) course. Levels 2 and 3 require ELC courses in the first term, or for Level 2 passing the Stevens English Communication Proficiency Exam. Scores must be under two years old and updated scores are not accepted after admission.

The page says the test-optional policy covers entry terms through fall 2029, with exceptions: SAT or ACT scores are required for the Accelerated Pre-Medicine or Pre-Law programmes, and from the fall 2027 class for the Pinnacle Scholars Program. Non-native speakers still need an English test.
