University of North Texas: English test requirements

UNT publishes one English proficiency page for all international applicants, undergraduate and graduate, with a single set of minimum scores. Medium-of-instruction letters are not accepted. SAT and ACT are optional for first-year entry.

Checked on 31 Oct 2026 against the university's own pages. Universities change their requirements, and some courses ask for more. Always confirm on the university's page before you book a test or apply.

English can also be shown by citizenship of a listed country, schooling or degrees in an approved country, school exams such as AP, IB, GCSE or SAT/ACT English scores, or completing level 6 at UNT's own intensive English institute.

International admissions: English language requirements

Graduate

The graduate page sends international applicants to the same English language requirements page, so the table below is the one on that page. The graduate page also says programmes may have their own admission requirements, so a department can ask for more.
